GUARD YOUR TONGUE, YOU WILL LIVE PEACEFULLY

TEXT: Proverbs 10:19-21
19 In the multitude of words there wanteth not sin: but he that refraineth his lips is wise. The tongue of the just is as choice silver: the heart of the wicked is little worth. The lips of the righteous feed many: but fools die for want of wisdom.

MEMORY VERSE: For he that will love life, and see good days, let him refrain his tongue from evil, and his lips that they speak no guile:

The tongue is a small member of the body but the most powerful. It is through the tongue that we relate with God. The tongue is capable of doing both good and bad hence it must be brought under strict control.
In his book, Imitation is Limitation, John Mason said, too much talk will always include error. There is always one rule for being good talker: learn to listen. Be a good listener; your ears will never get you into trouble but your tongue will. I was with a group of people one day where one man jokingly asked whether it was preferable to marry a woman that talks too much to one who cooks bad food? People bared their minds to this question. In the end it was concluded that a woman who cooks bad food would be preferable because the bad food could be contended within the four walls of the husband's house. The woman who talks too much with her utterance land the husband into trouble from time to time. Hence too much talk is bad. The Bible says in Proverb 18:21, “Death and life are in the power of the tongue: and they that love it shall eat the fruit thereof."

The way and manner one uses his or her tongue determines what he or she makes out of it. Almost all the wars in the present day are as a result of spoken word. The tongue brings about war, it can also bring peace. He who wants to live a peaceful life should guard against careless talk. As a Christian your words should be controlled to bring about peace among people.

PRAYER POINTS:
* Pray that God gives you the grace to control your tongue.
*Pray that your words will always bring about peace among people.
