THE WORD IS NEAR YOU

Text: Deut 30:11-14 "for this commandment which I command thee this day.it is not hidden from thee, neither is it far off. It is not in heaven, that thou shouldest say, who shall go up for us to heaven , and bring it unto us that we may hear it, and do it? Neither is it beyond the sea, that thou shouldest say, who shall go over the sea for us, and bring it unto us, that we may hear it, and do it? But the words is very nigh unto thee, in thy mouth, and in thy heart, that thou mayest do it?"
Memory verse: John 6:63

Yesterday, you remember, we dwelt on knowing what is in our hand to deal with situations as they occur. Today, we see the way Joshua drew the attention of the children of Isreal to the commandment of God which they were under a covenant to obey. He emphasised that the word of God which bears God's commandment was near the people. In other words, God cannot tell you to obey His word and hide the word from you, or keep it far away from. You donot need to travel to Jerusalem or Jericho to bring the word. Joshua said, "But the word is very nigh unto thee, in thy mouth, and in thy heart, that thou mayest do it" (Deut 30:14)

This should console us when we need comfort; it should encourage us when we are dispirited; it should put life in us when we are down in body and spirit. Take note of that. For those who say "I don't know what to do," let this be a way out: That the word is near you, use it; put it into practice. It should also admonish us when we want to go astray or when we actually go astray. If you believe in the word of God, it should guide you as it motivate you. Realizing this will help you not live a sinful life because your conscience will quickly touch you and remind you about the word in you.
It should also give you the confidence to deal with situations. For instance, when you see a person sick, and you realize you are carrier of the word, it is your duty to apply the word immediately to get the person healed. When you are comfronted with danger, it takes you time to face the danger eyeball to eyeball, and ask the danger "who are you? After you declared three times that "I am a chosen".
I want you to be thankful to God for bringing the word close to you and making it simple for you to understand and to apply.
