WHAT DO YOU HAVE IN YOUR HAND?
Text: Exodus 14:15-16, 21 "And the LORD said unto Moses, wherefore criest thou unto me? Speak unto the children of Isreal, that they go forward: But lift thou up thy rod, and stretch out thine hand over the sea, and divide it: and the Children of isreal shall go on dry ground through the midst of the sea. Verse 21 And moses stretched out his hand over the sea; and the Lord caused the sea to go back by a strong east wind all that night, and made the sea dry land, and the waters were divided."
Memory verse: Psalm 50:15
There are times in life when you find yourself in a very terrible situation that you can see dange physically confronting you. Look at what happened to the Isrealites. On their way to the promised land when they approached the Red sea, put yourself in their situation. In your front is a deep Red sea; behind you is a legion of Egyptian army. Both sides are endless wilderness.
That is what we see in life sometimes. When you are comfronted with a hopeless situation that you see danger ahead; and behind you is a large group of hostile enemies surging forward to attack you. And both sides are wilderness - endless and hopeless situations you cannot fathom out their end.
The best thing to do is to look up to heaven. But you must ask yourself, " what do I have in my hand?" At the time Moses cried unto God, he never knew that the staff in his hand could be used to strike the Red sea to divide it into two for the children of isreal to cross over. It is possible he even forgot he was holding something in his hand, until God drew his attention to it. That is what happens to many of us.
Let me ask you; what do you have in your hand concerning that matter? In other words what makes you a carrier of divine power? The staff in Moses hand was a point of contact, and God recognized it.
As a believer, and a chosen, you must have something to use when you are in a situation that demands immediate divine intervention. First is the word of God. The Bible says in Romans 10:8-10 that the word is near us; if something is near you it means you can reach out to it immediately. So you must apply the word of God in that situation that demands divine intervention. But you cannot apply the word effectively if you don't know it, and you cannot know it if you don't read or study it. Constant study of the word of God, regular prayers and uncompromised christain living will sustain the word of God in you. When you also attend fellowship regularly it adds up to building up your faith through the word of God that is shared.
Develop the habit of memorising appropriate and relevant scriptures you can apply when the occasion demands. Then pray, pray, pray. You will surely get result.
