TOPIC: WHILE WE WAIT FOR THE RAPTURE
TEXT: 1 THESSALONIANS 4:16-17, 1 CORINTHIANS 15:51-52
In the world, many activities and programs are going on e.g. Government activities, political activities, clubs, business, educational activities, sports activities, science and technological activities as well as church activities, are all going on, every blessed day. While we wait for the rapture, what manner of persons are we to be? 2 Peter3:4-9
For better understanding of the message we shall consider the following sub – heading
THE WORLD AND ITS ACTIVITIES: 2 Corinthians 4:3-4.
The wickedness of the world is on the increase. Men who hold the wealth and pleasure of this world unrighteousness have refused to understand that there is life after this world. They are so evil and hostile in their imagination; they have forgotten and to ridicule others, Psalm. 49:10-11, Romans. 1:18-23. Those in power are using their position to enrich themselves; drug addicts are pushing forward; parties and clubs are setting up their progarmmes all nights, eating and drinking is not out of place; boy and girl relationship is on the increase thereby making unwanted pregnancies and abortion so rampant; 419ners are still in their wickedness, they set up programmes in their wicked imagination and call it a vision” but that is a evil and wicked vision, because they do not have the fear of God”, Psalm. 49:17-20, Proverb. 11:4; 20:17,21; 21:16. All these people in these categories who have heard the gospel and continue in their wickedness, if they refuse to repent, they cannot see the kingdom of God, 1 Corin.6:9-10, Rev. 21:8.
THE CHURCH OF CHRIST: 1 John 2:15-16; 5:19
While the programme and the activities of the worlds are going on, the true church of Christ must not go to sleep or relax. We should remember the fact that Jesus Christ told us to occupy till he comes, every true believer should be up and doing till the trumpet sounds, Luke 19:13, 2Pet. 3:13-14. The time we are in, is the very last days as the bible described, Rom. 13:12. The church is only waiting for the rapture and that is the next item in the Lord’s programme, Mark 13:27, 32-36. If you want to make rapture, you must not joke with the ministry which you have received or take your calling for granted. Set your minds on things above only, the more you serve God and get yourself involved in God’s activities, maintain right living, surly you will be far from sin and very close to God, John.12:24-27. This truth is a hidden treasure to whosoever has understanding; it is also a secret to men and woman who love to live or spend eternity with Jesus, Jn. 14:3. Don’t forget to be watchful at all times, because the world, the flesh and the devil is on mission to take you out of the path of righteousness. Remember HE is coming for a church without spot or wrinkles.
