NO VENTURE, NO SUCCESS

Text: 2 Samuel 23:15-17, Proverbs 24:27, Proverbs 24:33-34

Memorize: "The slothful man saith, There is a lion without, I shall be slain in the streets."(Proverbs 22:13)

The bible laments saying, "My people are destroyed for lack of knowledge." (Hosea 4:6) Lack of knowledge has proved to be the undoing of many people whom God has blessed with glorious destinies. They have refused to do anything to realize these God-given destines. They offer different kinds of excuses as they claim they have no social connection or somebody that will help them. Sometimes, they cite their lack of formal education and point accusing fingers at those they feel should have helped them, but didn't. Some consider the vagaries of the weather and predict that it will rain and for that reason, they will not go out to look for something to do. There are others who cannot go out because of crises (lions) on the streets and fear they will be devoured and for that reason sit back at home. 

Some believers are lazy and refuse to work. There are still some who go to work and sit down all day doing nothing only to demand for their salary at the end of the month. Yet, there are others who claim they cannot work because they are evangelists, intercessors, counselors, ushers, choristers etc. Does the bible say you should not work? Did the bible not say that whoever does not work shall not eat? (1 Thessalonians 4:11, 2 Thessalonians 8-12, 1 Timothy 5:8) So, if you refuse to work or do any businesses, where will you get the money to do offering, pay your tithes redeem pledges and take care of your family and personal needs? Will all these monies come from the church or the pastor?

Life itself is full of risks and whoever is not willing to take the risks to be beaten by the rain or sun will not make it or be free in life. Whoever does not plan to succeed in life has inadvertently already planned to fail. The reason is because if there is no venture, there won't be any success. If there is no pain that comes from planning and trying, there will be no gain. Who is going to work and take risks to take care of your own problems? You need to think about this and get your hands on something no matter how small.
