YOUR FOCUS AS A YOUTH
TEXT : PROVERBS 22:29, 1 CORINTHIANS 9:24-26, PHILIPPIANS 3:13-16
Being able to concentrate as a youth is critical for learning. Research has shown that individuals who can sustain their attention for long periods of time perform better in all ramifications. As a youth, your focus in life should resolve on your goals, dreams, acquiring skills which will develope your mental capacity. Unfortunately, many youths have channeled their focus to non-essentials i.e. Sports betting, video games, casinos, wrong association, addicted to TV series like soaps operas, social media, worldly music, film, etc. The aforementioned shouldn't be your focus.For a better understanding of this message, we shall consider the following sub-headings:
POINT 1 : HOW TO DEVELOPE INTENSE FOCUS.
Becoming focused is a function of your vision, decision, determination, and discipline. A unique trait you find in focused youths is self-discipline, they avoid activities that distract. When others are whiling time away, they invest their time judiciously, they understand that for one to achieve high academic grades he/she must avoid distractions; consider the upbringing of Dr. Ben Carson, a world-renowned neurosurgeon, During his teenage age he was the class dullard, but that's all changed after he became focused. Some tips to assist you to become focused.1) Clarify your vision and see goals on how to achieve them Habakkuk 2:2-3
3) Ensure you get a model counselor, someone that is successful in the career or business you want to study/learn Proverb 11:14, Proverbs 15:22
4) Read inspirational books that will aid your pursuit for your set goals and assimilate them . 2 Timothy 2:15
5) Fellowship with the brethren regularly and avoid the wrong company. 1 Corinthians 15:33, Ephesians 5:11
6) Adhere to instructions from teachers, leaders or pastors. Proverbs 1:8-9, Deuteronomy 28:2,13, Hebrews 13:17.
7) study your Bible every day, meditate on it and ensure you are prayerful Joshua 1:8
Note: This stage of your life will determine who you will eventually become. Please, know that you cannot cheat life except you decide to maximize your "today"
POINT 2: SUSTAIN YOUR FOCUS AND OUR EXAMPLES
There are many distractions on the path of young people today; social media, phones, movies, boyfriend and girlfriend, etc. Many young people have become a slave to this things, without regards to their future only to realize at the end that you have sold the brightness of your future on the altar of procrastination, you can choose to fail by allowing yourself to be distracted or decide to do away with every form of distractions. At this stage in your life, there are things your life must focus on: YOUR RELATIONSHIP WITH GOD, YOUR SET GOALS & DESIRE FOR GROWTH.
self-discipline and the consistent pursuit of your goals/aspiration will help you sustain focus. Is there a reason for your existence? What if I tell you that youths like Joseph, Samuel, Esther, Daniel, Timothy, etc. we're born for something special? Yes! This stage in your life must not be wasted. Our Lord Jesus at a tender age of twelve had already begun fulfilling His purpose, Luke 2:42, 44-48, The account of young Samuel in 1 Samuel 2:18,26. 1 Samuel 3:19-21, some people here are destined to be used by God as mighty instruments for revival, others to become renowned Medical practitioners, Engineers, Importers, Business tycoon, Accountants, Economist, etc. So, do not lose focus, you will achieve your divine assignment here on earth, keep your focus in God. He cannot fail.
